The Venomous Abyss
Where this stands
The raid opened with Season 2 on 18 August. Preservation Evokers cleared normal across every boss in the first days and are working into heroic behind it, unevenly: the middle of the raid has the most heroic runs logged and the first and last bosses the fewest. No mythic kill has been logged by anybody yet.
The corpus holds 6242 logged runs, covering 9 of 9 bosses, cut into 22454 phase segments. Each segment carries its own damage by ability, split by the role it landed on, and its own worst five second window. Every boss page takes a difficulty, because a fight is not the same fight across them.
That last part is the reason phases were built before the rest of the ingest. A boss read as one block gives up a single worst moment for a fight lasting several minutes, and one moment is not a plan. Cut by phase, the same fight gives one for each stage, and the early ones turned out to be nearly as dangerous as the late ones.
The nine bosses
- 1The Twin FangsNormal and heroic. Reported as one stretch.
- 2The Coiled AltarNormal and heroic. Four stages.
- 3The Lost ExplorersNormal and heroic. Four stages, cycling about 5 times.
- 4Vashnik the MalignantNormal and heroic. Reported as one stretch.
- 5SszorakNormal and heroic. Two stages, cycling about 5 times.
- 6Entombed SentinelsNormal and heroic. Two stages, cycling about 8 times.
- 7Nek'zali the SoulcoilerNormal and heroic. Six stages.
- 8Ula'tekNormal and heroic. Four stages.
- 9Nymrissa WavecallerNormal and heroic. Reported as one stretch.
Nymrissa Wavecaller is on the live raid and was not on the PTR build, so any count taken before launch stops at eight. There are nine.
6 of the nine report more than one stage. The rest are either single stage fights or fights whose transitions are not reported, and those two look identical from here, so treat a stage count of one as unconfirmed rather than as a finding.
What is not here
Every run here is a kill, because the leaderboard only holds kills. Nothing measured so far shows what a wipe looks like, which is the more useful document. Uploads are the way that changes: paste a report on the analyze page and a wipe counts.
The sample is young. Normal is undergeared and over-healed while the raid is new, heroic runs a few guilds ahead of everybody, and every timing on this page will move as the raid goes on farm. Read the phase structure, which is fixed, rather than the numbers attached to it, which are not.
The encounter journal is not repeated here. It is the same text everywhere it appears and none of it is checkable.
